“I lived around music when I was a child. I literally listened to music in my sleep” – Xtacy.
Emmanuel Prempeh, known as Xtacy in showbiz was born Ghanaian. He lived his early childhood years in Nigeria, raised by his grandmother while his parents were abroad.
He returned to Ghana permanently in 2001 and grew up in Tesano. He graduated from O’Reilly Senior High School in 2013.
Xtacy’s dad would play all genres of music when they were living together. But it wasn’t until he was bought a handy cassette tape player that he had an intimate connection with his favorite songs.

He discovered his love for literature at the age of 13. Xtacy has always been a prolific reader and writer, which foundation helped him discover his musical talent. In his own words, music has been an obsession for him since then and there’s nothing else he’d rather do.
He started off as a rapper, and he did this for two years and then made a conscious decision to switch to singing because he realized that was what he wanted to do. Both the Ghanaian and Nigerian cultures can be felt in his music and lyrics due to his upbringing.
He describes his sound under the authentic African genres Afrobeats and Highlife. At the same time, he mines from other genres, including dancehall, reggae, R&B and other forms of Island music. King Sunny Ade, C.K. Man , Paa Bobo, Fela Kuti and Rex Omar have been his biggest influencers in music, including the likes of Yemi Alade, Stonebwoy, Wizkid, AKA, Mi Casa who are pioneers of the modern day African music.
